What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a non-invasive, specific touch technique of applying pressure to reflex points of the feet and hands (and sometimes the ears and face) that correspond to all glands, organs, and systems of the body. The physical act of applying specific, stimulating pressure, using thumb and fingers, to these reflex areas results in improving circulation and reducing body stress and tension, which promotes positive physiological changes within the body. There are over 7,200 reflex points in each hand and each foot.

The Theory is that your FEET and/or your HANDS reflect your body. Let’s take your feet as an example: By placing an outline of the body over an image of the feet, you can see that the toes correspond to the head area. Where the toes join the foot is the shoulder line. Below that is your chest/breast/lung region. As you go down the feet, the other body parts and organs correspond to the specific defined areas in the feet.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Reflexology work?

By stimulating specific reflexes and removing stress and activating a parasympathetic response in the body, reflexology enables the imbalances to be released by a physiological change. With stress removed and circulation improved, the body is allowed to return to a state where its’ best balance can be achieved..

Who can benefit from Reflexology?

Everyone! Young, old, health/active, disabled. Reflexology has benefits for everyone.

Is it painful?

Reflexology sessions should not be very painful. Your therapist will communicate with you on how much pressure will be used. Reflexology is complementary and non- invasive, creating a general pleasant and relaxing experience. Some areas of the body will need focused attention where tenderness will occur

Are there any contraindications to reflexology?

Unfortunately people suffering from Thrombosis or blood clots should not undergo reflexology therapy. Reflexology relaxes and opens the blood vessels throughout the body increasing the risk of clot travel.
